Jared Leto faces sexual misconduct claims from four women

Oscar-winning actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto has been accused of sexual misconduct by four women who allege the incidents occurred when they were teenagers or young adults.

The allegations surfaced in the BBC investigative documentary Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret, while the actor has categorically denied all claims.

The documentary, released on Wednesday (July 29), features interviews with 10 women, nine of whom spoke publicly for the first time.

According to the BBC, four of the allegations amount to potential criminal offences.

One woman alleges she was sexually assaulted at the age of 17. Another claims she had a sexual relationship with Leto in California when she was also 17, an age below the state's legal age of consent at the time. A third woman says she was threatened with sexual assault in a hotel room when she was 19, while a fourth alleges Leto repeatedly made sexually suggestive phone calls to her when she was 16.

The alleged incidents are said to have taken place between 2002 and 2016, when Leto was in his thirties and forties. The actor is now 54 years old.

However, the identities of the women have been withheld in the documentary.

The BBC said it corroborated several of the allegations by interviewing friends and relatives who were reportedly informed about the incidents at the time. It also claims to have reviewed photographs, messages and, in one case, a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) that was allegedly sent to one of the women after the incident. She reportedly refused to sign the document.

The documentary also includes testimony from two former associates of Leto's band, who claim staff members had long expressed concerns about his interactions with teenage female fans.

Leto did not respond to repeated requests for comment before the documentary's release. However, through his representatives, he later issued a statement saying: "I have never sexually assaulted anyone. These allegations are categorically and unequivocally false."

The actor has faced similar accusations before. In 2025, Air Mail published allegations from nine women accusing him of inappropriate conduct, all of which he also denied. No criminal charges have been filed against him to date.

Leto, who has been active in Hollywood since the 1990s, won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for Dallas Buyers Club in 2014. He is also known for his performances in films including Fight Club, Blade Runner 2049 and Suicide Squad. His band Thirty Seconds to Mars is scheduled to tour Europe and the United Kingdom next year.
