Jaya Ahsan’s ‘Aajo Ardhangini’ set for July release
Following the critical and commercial success of the acclaimed Bengali family drama Ardhangini, its much-anticipated sequel, Aajo Ardhangini, is set to hit theatres across West Bengal on July 10, director Kaushik Ganguly has confirmed.
Building on the emotional narrative of the original film, the sequel delves deeper into the complexities of relationships, unresolved emotions and the lingering impact of the past. While 'Ardhangini' centred on the poignant encounter between a man's current and former wives during a personal crisis, the new instalment moves the story forward several years later.
The film unfolds around a family gathering that brings familiar faces together once again. However, despite the passage of time, old wounds, unanswered questions and buried emotions resurface, setting the stage for a new chapter of conflict and reconciliation.
According to the filmmaker, 'Aajo Ardhangini' will explore previously untold truths and introduce fresh dimensions to the family’s story. A significant part of the narrative revolves around Meghna’s daughter, Tikli, whose identity and past become central to a series of emotional revelations that reshape the lives of those around her.
The sequel reunites the original cast, with Kaushik Sen, Churni Ganguly and Jaya Ahsan reprising their key roles. Actor Indrashish Roy joins the ensemble as a new character expected to bring a fresh dynamic to the story.
Speaking about the project, Jaya Ahsan said the overwhelming response to the first film created a greater sense of responsibility for the team. She noted that the sequel aims to present an even more nuanced exploration of human relationships and emotions.
Director Kaushik Ganguly described 'Aajo Ardhangini' as a story about the fragility of relationships, unspoken feelings and personal truths. He said each character believes they are right in their own way, and that conflict forms the emotional core of the film.
With its blend of family drama, emotional depth and layered storytelling, 'Aajo Ardhangini' is expected to offer audiences another thought-provoking cinematic experience when it arrives in theatres next month.
