Jebu’s official Facebook page launched

A few hours before BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s return to the country, his family’s beloved pet cat ‘Jebu’ has made an official debut on social media. An official Facebook page has been launched in its name.

Jebu is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka along with Tarique Rahman and his family members on Thursday (December 25) afternoon. The furry Siberian cat is originally the pet of Tarique Rahman’s daughter, Barrister Zaima Rahman.

Jebu’s Facebook page, decorated with light-hearted and somewhat humorous (satire) content, has already attracted the attention of cat lovers and netizens online. Saimum Parvez, Special Assistant to the BNP Chairperson on Foreign Affairs Committee and Head of the party’s Content Generation Team (CGT), confirmed the page as ‘official’.

Earlier this year, a picture of Jebu glancing at Tarique Rahman's mobile phone went viral on social media, sparking widespread discussion. Later, more pictures of Jebu spread, creating a lot of curiosity, especially among the younger generation and cat lovers.

In an interview with BBC Bangla about Jebu's popularity, Tarique Rahman said, "The cat is my daughter's. But now it has become everyone's cat. We all love it very much."

After more than 17 years in exile, Tarique Rahman is returning home from London with his wife Dr. Zobaida Rahman and daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman.
