The price of jet fuel, the fuel used in aircraft, has reduced again. This time it has been reduced by Tk19.22 paisa per liter. As fuel prices in the global market have been falling since May, the price of jet fuel has been continuously decreasing in the country. Last month, it was reduced by Tk15.67 per liter, and the previous month, it was reduced by Tk61.12 in two stages. However, after the war in the Middle East, the price increased by Tk107 in two stages in March and Tk24.79 in one stage in April.

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced the new price of jet fuel in a notification on Tuesday. The new price will be effective from 12 midnight today. The agency has been adjusting prices every month since May last year.

According to the BERC announcement, the price of jet fuel for domestic flights has been set at Tk130.99 per liter, which was Tk150.21 so far. In February before the war, the price was Tk95.12. And for international flights, the price per liter has been reduced from 0.9808 dollars to 0.8556 dollars.

On February 28, the war in the Middle East began with the joint attack on Iran by the United States and Israel. Then, when Iran began attacking various countries in the region, the war spread throughout the oil-rich region. The attacks targeted energy installations on both sides. As a result, fuel prices in the world market became unstable. Later, when the ceasefire began, the prices started to decrease.

Earlier, the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) used to set the price of jet fuel. However, the interim government canceled the clause for setting the price of electricity and gas through an executive order. Then, on September 15, 2024, BERC was given the authority to set the prices of furnace oil and Jet A-1 through a notification. Following the notification, BERC held a public hearing on setting the prices of jet fuel for the first time on March 23, 2025. Since then, prices have been adjusted every month.
