Joining war against Iran can not be rule out: Mark Carney
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has said the possibility of Canada joining military action against Iran cannot be entirely ruled out, amid escalating tensions in the region.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Canberra alongside Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Carney said participation in the conflict “cannot be completely dismissed.”
The Canadian leader had earlier described recent strikes on Iran by the United States and Israel as not consistent with international law.
However, he stressed that Canada would stand by its allies and prioritise the protection of Canadians.
Carney also reaffirmed Ottawa’s support for efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
