Kajol doesn't watch Bengali films, but is open to acting in one

Bollywood actress Kajol has said that while she does not watch Bengali films, she has no objection to acting in one if offered. She made the remarks while receiving an honour in Kolkata recently.

By roots, Kajol is Bengali — her mother Tanuja Mukherjee was a leading actress of Bengali cinema, and her father, Shomu Mukhopadhyay, was a director.

When asked whether she has been able to follow in her mother's footsteps, Kajol replied, "I am still trying. Mother is a very big actress. I have walked the path she showed me all my life."

The actress also shared her thoughts on her own work ethic. "I am very disciplined. Very few people in Bollywood arrive on set on time, but I am one of them. I also leave the set on time. That is my nature," she said.

Kajol made her film debut in 1992 with 'Bekhudi'. Though the film was not a commercial success, her performance was praised. She later cemented her place in Bollywood through her acting prowess. In 1993, her film 'Baazigar' opposite Shah Rukh Khan was a superhit, and 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' went on to become one of India's most successful films.

She went on to deliver a string of hits, including 'Gupt', 'Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya', 'Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha', 'Dushman', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', 'Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain', 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham', and 'Fanaa'.

Of late, Kajol has also increased her presence on OTT platforms. She has worked in several series, including 'The Romantics', 'Lust Stories 2', and 'The Trial'.
