Harry Kane delivered a stunning second-half hat-trick as Bayern Munich crushed VfB Stuttgart 3-0 in the DFB-Pokal final on Saturday night (May 23), ending the Bavarians’ six-year wait for the German Cup title.

Played at Berlin’s Olympiastadion, the final remained goalless at halftime despite an entertaining opening 45 minutes in which Stuttgart successfully frustrated Bayern’s attack. Vincent Kompany’s side created several chances but lacked the finishing touch before the break.

The match, however, turned decisively in Bayern’s favor after halftime — led by the brilliance of Kane.

The England captain broke the deadlock in the 55th minute, powering home a clinical header from a pinpoint cross by Michael Olise. The goal also saw Kane become only the third player in German football history to score in every round of a DFB-Pokal campaign, including the final.

Kane doubled Bayern’s lead in the 80th minute after reacting sharply inside the box. A powerful Bayern effort rebounded off the post before Luis Díaz intelligently laid the ball into Kane’s path, allowing the striker to finish calmly for his second of the night.

The 32-year-old completed his hat-trick deep into stoppage time after Stuttgart conceded a penalty for handball inside the area. Kane made no mistake from the spot in the 92nd minute, sealing Bayern’s emphatic victory and their record-extending 21st German Cup crown.

It marked Bayern’s first DFB-Pokal triumph since 2020 and capped a dominant domestic campaign for the German giants under Kompany.

Kane’s sensational form continues to redefine his debut years in Germany. The English forward has now scored an astonishing 61 goals in 51 appearances for Bayern across all competitions this season — numbers that further strengthen England’s hopes ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
