Karina Kaiser’s body to arrive home on Sunday
The body of Bangladeshi content creator and actress Karina Kaiser, who died while undergoing treatment in India, is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on Sunday afternoon (May 17).
Karina passed away on Saturday (May 16) in Chennai after battling severe liver-related complications. She had been taken to India earlier this week for advanced medical treatment as her condition deteriorated.
Her father, former Bangladesh national footballer Kaiser Hamid, confirmed that her body will reach Dhaka on Sunday.
He said: The first funeral prayer will be held after Asr prayers at Banani DOHS Jame Mosque. A second namaz-e-janaza is scheduled for Monday at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque before she is laid to rest in Gazaria of Munshiganj.
Earlier, Kaiser Hamid announced his daughter’s death through an emotional social media post, requesting prayers and forgiveness for her.
Family sources said Karina initially developed a fever before doctors detected severe infections linked to Hepatitis A and E, which eventually caused liver failure. As her condition worsened, she was shifted to the ICU and later placed on life support at a private hospital in Dhaka.
On Monday night, she was airlifted to Christian Medical College Hospital in India’s Vellore district for advanced treatment. Doctors there had begun treatment for lung complications while preparations for a possible liver transplant were also underway.
Karina Kaiser gained widespread popularity through humorous social media content and later expanded her career into acting. She appeared in the web film 36-24-36 directed by Rezaur Rahman.
