  1. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) concluded a marathon 9-hour board meeting, followed by a one-hour press conference marked by heated discussions on Saturday (April 4).

The meeting, chaired by BCB directors including Mokhosedul Kamal, addressed key cricketing and administrative decisions. Among the most notable cricketing resolutions, the tenures of national captains and vice-captains for both white-ball formats have been extended.

Speaking at the press briefing, Kamal—who recently also took charge of the Media Committee—was joined by Nazmul Abedin, head of Cricket Operations, Iftikhar Rahman, chairman of the Umpires Committee, and Rubaba Daula, head of the Women’s Cricket Division.

The press conference saw intense debate, particularly over Bangladesh’s absence from the last T20 World Cup and the delayed start of the Dhaka Third Division and Premier League. Club representatives have been invited to a meeting next Wednesday to finalize the Premier League arrangements.

Key Decisions from the BCB Board Meeting:

Adoption of BCB’s new HR policy.
Final approval of the national selection committee, led by Habibul Bashar.
Extension of tenures for white-ball captains and vice-captains:
ODI: Mehedi Hasan Miraz (captain), Nazmul Hossain Shanto (vice-captain) until next year’s World Cup.
T20I: Liton Kumar Das (captain), Saif Hasan (vice-captain) until the 2028 World Cup.
Introduction of a pension scheme for players, umpires, and staff; a committee will propose detailed plans in the next board meeting.
Clubs invited for discussions to organize the Dhaka Premier League next Wednesday.
Inter-university cricket tournament to be held at Dhaka University Cricket Ground.
Launch of the Domestic Cricketer Analytical App.
Appointment of Mohammad Rafique as specialist spin-bowling coach on a one-year contract.
Organization of Women’s BPL and Women’s Cup.
Revival of BCB’s “Award Night” ceremony.
Implementation of recommendations by Youth and Sports Minister Aminul Haque following his inspection of Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Scholarship program for sports journalists to study abroad.
Publication of a quarterly BCB sports journal.
Full cooperation with government investigations into previous BCB corruption cases.

The board described the decisions as essential steps toward strengthening domestic and international cricket in Bangladesh and improving governance within the board.
