BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that Khaleda Zia, who is receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, is not yet in a physical condition that would allow her to be taken abroad.

He made the comment at a press conference at the party’s central office in Gulshan on Saturday, November 29.

He added that if her condition improves slightly, she will be taken abroad for treatment. All preparations, including arrangements for an air ambulance, have already been made.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “Last night, a medical board was formed for Khaleda Zia’s treatment with specialists from Johns Hopkins in the United States and prominent doctors from the United Kingdom.”

He said, “If it is found that she is ready to fly, a quick decision can be made regarding her transfer.”

Addressing journalists, he said, “Through you, I want to convey a message to the people. The entire nation is worried about the BNP chairperson and national leader’s illness. Many people are coming and gathering in front of the hospital. This is disrupting treatment for Khaleda Zia and other patients, and the doctors are also facing difficulties. I request everyone not to gather.”
