Bangladesh National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman has invited his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time.

Dr. Khalilur Rahman is currently visiting Delhi with a delegation to attend the 7th National Security Adviser-level meeting of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC).

As part of this visit, he met Ajit Doval and extended the invitation.

This information was given in a press release sent by the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi on Wednesday (November 19).

The security advisers of the two countries discussed the activities of the CSC and important bilateral issues of mutual interest during the meeting, the release said. However, no further details about the discussions were given.

This is the second visit of an adviser to India after the interim government led by Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus took office.

Earlier, in February, Energy Adviser Fauzul Kabir Khan went to Delhi to participate in the 'India Energy Week'.

After the change of government in August last year, the meeting between Bangladesh's Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain and Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar at the UN General Assembly session in New York gave a new impetus to the diplomatic relations between the two countries. As a continuation of that, a Foreign Secretary-level meeting was also held in Dhaka in December last year.

Later, on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok in April, Chief Adviser Dr Yunus paid a courtesy call to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In addition, several important formal contacts have also been made between the two countries, including a meeting at the level of Director Generals of the Border Guards of the two countries, a technical meeting of the Joint River Commission and a consular dialogue.
