Khamenei's daughter, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandson killed

Israel and the United States launched surprise attacks across Iran from Saturday, February 28. US President Donald Trump has announced that the operation will continue until there is a change of government in Iran.

Speculation had been circulating since yesterday that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the joint Israel–US strikes. On Sunday, Iranian media confirmed Khamenei’s death.

Earlier, Iranian state media reported that Khamenei’s daughter, son-in-law and grandson were killed in the attacks. The Revolutionary Guard-linked Fars News Agency also said one of his daughters-in-law died in the strikes.

Meanwhile, the BBC’s media partner CBS News, citing intelligence and military sources, reported that about 40 Iranian officials were killed in the attacks.

Following Khamenei’s death, a 40-day state mourning period has been declared in Iran.
