King Charles III congratulates President on Independence Day
King Charles III of the United Kingdom has congratulated President Md Sahabuddin on the occasion of Bangladesh's Independence Day. The British High Commission in Dhaka shared the information on Thursday, March 26.
In his letter, King Charles said, "On this joyous occasion of your National Day, my wife and I send our warmest congratulations to Your Excellency and the People's Republic of Bangladesh. I reflect with sincere gratitude on the partnership between our two countries, founded on the mutual respect and shared values that define our Commonwealth."
The British monarch noted that over 650,000 people of Bangladeshi heritage live across the United Kingdom, making significant contributions to national life, enriching society and strengthening the ties between the two countries.
He expressed pride in the role the Commonwealth family plays in fostering understanding, cooperation and opportunity around the world. "The rich diversity of the Commonwealth and the energy of its young people provide a continuing source of hope and progress," he said.
King Charles said he looked forward to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in November, where nations would come together to reaffirm collective commitments and set a course for the future.
He added that cooperation on climate action remained an essential feature of the bilateral relationship, and he commended Bangladesh's strong leadership in building resilience and advancing sustainable development. "Together we continue to work to protect our environment and secure a more sustainable and prosperous future for generations to come," he said.
"My wife and I send our warmest wishes to you and the people of Bangladesh for a peaceful and prosperous year ahead," the message concluded.
