‘King’ teaser to drop on Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday

The likely release date for the teaser of Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited action thriller “King” has been set for November 2, the Bollywood superstar’s birthday. Citing a Bollywood Hungama report, Indian and international media say director Siddharth Anand is set to release the teaser on his birthday. The makers have not yet made an official announcement.

An unnamed source quoted in the report said the teaser is a birthday gift from the “King” team to Shah Rukh’s fans. The source claims it will show Shah Rukh in a never-before-seen avatar, with dramatic dialogue and his signature style. The teaser is also reported to kick off the film’s global promotional campaign.

The film will hit theaters on December 24 this year. It is being produced by Shah Rukh’s company Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix. According to the source, audiences enjoyed the scale of “Pathaan” and “Jawan,” and the director has tried to take the action, thrills and music in “King” to an even bigger level. After “Pathaan,” this is Siddharth Anand’s second film with Shah Rukh.

The film’s budget is also being discussed. Several reports say its production cost is around Rs 450 crore, which, if true, would make it one of India’s most expensive films. The makers have not commented on the budget.

“King” marks Suhana Khan’s big-screen debut. According to one report, she will share the screen with her father in a song titled “Daddy Cool,” which is scheduled to be filmed in South Africa in October.

Shah Rukh Khan turns 61 on November 2 this year. Releasing a teaser for a new film on his birthday is nothing new for him. In 2022, he released the teaser for “Pathaan” on his birthday. At the time, director Siddharth Anand said that day was chosen to surprise fans.
