Klopp-Xavi's new chapter begins with a draw

The new chapter of two new coaches began with a draw. The UEFA Nations League match between Jürgen Klopp's Germany and Xavi Hernandez's Netherlands ended in a 1-1 draw.

Klopp was very close to making his debut in the Germany dugout a winning one. But Cody Gakpo, who was Klopp's own disciple at Liverpool, did not let that happen. In the second minute of added time, Gakpo's goal saw the two teams leave the field sharing the points.

At Amsterdam's Johan Cruyff Arena, both teams played attacking football from the start of the match.

However, Germany went ahead in the first half. The visitors took the lead in the 32nd minute through Felix Nmecha's goal. Karim Adeyemi's shot was saved by Dutch goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen. Nmecha scored from the rebound.

In the second half, Xavi's Netherlands became desperate to equalise. Despite attacking one after another, they could not find the much-needed goal. Finally, in the second minute of added time, that wait ended. Gakpo equalised for the Netherlands with a superb volley from a cross by debutant Ruben van Bommel.

As a result, the Netherlands and Germany each got 1 point in their first match in Group 2 of League A in the Nations League.

For both Xavi and Klopp, their start in international football came with a draw.

In another match of Group 2, Greece came from behind to beat Serbia 2-1.
