Kurmitola Hospital renamed ‘Kurmitola Multicare Specialized Hospital’

The government has officially renamed Kurmitola General Hospital as “Kurmitola Multicare Specialized Hospital.”

The decision was announced in a gazette notification issued on Tuesday (May 19) by the Government Health Management-1 Branch under the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The notification, signed by Deputy Secretary Kazi Sharif Uddin Ahmed, said the renaming was made in the public interest under the order of the President and would take effect immediately.

According to the order, relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Public Administration and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), have been instructed to take necessary steps to implement the change.

Kurmitola Hospital is one of Dhaka’s key public healthcare institutions and has long been providing specialized medical services. Officials believe the new name better reflects the hospital’s expanded healthcare facilities and modernization efforts.
