Following his outstanding performance at the World Cup, France forward Kylian Mbappe has topped yet another list of stars. He has been recognised as the fastest player of the tournament.

France were eliminated from the World Cup after a 2-0 semi-final defeat to Spain. Despite losing 6-4 to England in the third-place play-off, Mbappe scored twice in that match. Those two goals took his total for the tournament to 10, securing the Golden Boot for the star.

With 22 World Cup goals in total, he has surpassed Argentina's Lionel Messi to become the all-time top scorer in World Cup history. This time, he has also claimed the top spot in another category, as recognition for his individual performances.

Mbappe has been named the fastest player of the tournament, clocking a top speed of 37.61 kilometres per hour . He edged out Sweden's Anthony Elanga, who reached 37.16 km/h, and Netherlands' Micky van de Ven, who recorded 36.77 km/h.

The top 10 list also features three other French players. Bradley Barcola ranks seventh with a top speed of 36.32 km/h, while Theo Hernandez is ninth with 36.17 km/h.

Australia's Jordan Bos clocked 36.67 km/h to place fourth, and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland's fastest sprint was 36.52 km/h, securing him fifth place.
