Law enforcement to be deployed in three-tier ahead of polls: EC secretary

For the 13th general election, law enforcement will be deployed in three tiers: central, mobile teams, and central reserve.

Additionally, a site tracking force will operate to ensure security at polling centers.

The announcement was made on Thursday afternoon by Akhtar Ahmed, senior secretary of the Election Commission, following a meeting with law enforcement officials at the Election Commission office in Agargaon, Dhaka.

A cyber security monitoring cell will also be established to monitor social media platforms, including Facebook, during the election.

Akhtar Ahmed said the meeting marked the final discussion on law and order arrangements for the election. The Home Ministry will issue directives to law enforcement, while the Election Commission will oversee monitoring from its end.

Mobile teams will determine the number of polling centers to monitor. Identified militants will remain under close surveillance, and arrests will be made if necessary.
