Liton Das replaces Mehidy Hasan Miraz as Bangladesh ODI captain

Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been removed from the ODI captaincy of the Bangladesh national cricket team. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed Liton Das as the new ODI captain in his place.

The decision was made at a BCB board meeting held on Wednesday (July 29). A board source confirmed the matter .

Liton Das was already serving as the T20I captain. With this new decision, he will now lead the Bangladesh side in both white-ball formats—ODI and T20I.

Criticism had been growing recently over Miraz's leadership and personal performance in ODI cricket. Questions were raised about his captaincy, particularly after the ODI series loss to Zimbabwe . Speculation about a leadership change had been circulating since then.

That speculation has now been formally reflected in the BCB's latest board meeting. The Bangladesh team will now begin a new chapter in white-ball cricket under Liton Das's leadership.
