Premier League champions Liverpool have agreed to sign Swedish striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United for a British record transfer fee of around £130 million, according to reports on Monday.

The Athletic and The Telegraph reported that Isak will undergo a medical on Monday before completing a six-year contract with the club.

The transfer will surpass the previous Premier League record of £106 million, paid by Chelsea to Benfica for Enzo Fernandez in 2023.

Isak, 25, netted 23 goals in the Premier League last season, second only to Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, as Newcastle secured Champions League qualification.

The striker had been pushing for a move this summer, training separately from the Newcastle squad after expressing his desire to join Liverpool. Newcastle earlier rejected an initial £110 million offer.

The deal gained momentum after Newcastle signed German international striker Nick Woltemade on Saturday for a club-record fee reported at £69 million.

Isak will be Liverpool’s latest high-profile signing in a big-spending summer. The club have already secured German midfielder Florian Wirtz, French forward Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, and Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.
