The global liquefied natural gas (LNG) market could face a prolonged crisis until the end of 2027 due to supply disruptions and infrastructure damage caused by the US-Iran war, the International Energy Agency (IEA) has said.

A report by the agency, citing AFP, said supply shortages in the short term and slow production capacity growth could lead to an overall LNG supply gap of approximately 120 billion cubic metres between 2026 and 2030.

The report also noted that while new gas production projects in other parts of the world may compensate for some of this gap over time, the market will likely face supply constraints throughout 2026 and 2027.
