Luka Modrić will continue his journey with AC Milan, with the Serie A giants confirming on Thursday (July 23) that the Croatian midfield maestro has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at San Siro until June 30, 2027.

The 2018 Ballon d'Or winner joined the Rossoneri last year after bringing an end to his glittering 13-year spell at Real Madrid. His previous contract expired on June 30, but the veteran midfielder has now committed to another season in Milan.

Before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Modrić had indicated he would decide on his club future after the tournament. Croatia's campaign, however, ended in the Round of 32 following defeat to Portugal, paving the way for the experienced playmaker to finalize his next chapter.

Announcing the extension, AC Milan said the club was delighted to retain one of football's most decorated midfielders.

In an official statement, the Rossoneri praised Modrić's professionalism, humility and leadership, noting that he has brought invaluable quality and experience both on and off the pitch since arriving in Milan.

The club also highlighted his contribution during the previous campaign, in which he made 37 appearances and scored two goals, reaffirming his importance as a key figure in the squad.

The Croatian legend, who turns 41 in September, will continue wearing his iconic No. 14 jersey as he targets more milestones with the seven-time European champions.
