Madhubala biopic to feature Sara Arjun in the iconic role
Rising actor Sara Arjun is set to portray legendary Bollywood actress Madhubala in an upcoming biopic, marking a major new chapter in the young performer’s career.
Sara, who recently drew attention for her performance in Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar, has reportedly been selected to play the titular role. Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is producing the project, which will be directed by Jasmeet K Reen.
Bhansali is currently busy shooting Love & War, but the Madhubala biopic is expected to go on floors by September at Royal Palms in Goregaon.
Sara has already begun preparing for the demanding role. Director Jasmeet is focusing on recreating Madhubala's distinctive mannerisms, walk, expressions and the period atmosphere associated with the legendary actress.
Daughter of actor Raj Arjun, Sara has been part of the entertainment industry from an early age. She entered the world of advertising at just 18 months and became a familiar face by the age of five. At six, she earned critical praise for her performance as a child actor in the Tamil film Deiva Thirumagal.
She has since worked across Tamil, Telugu and Hindi cinema. Taking on the role of one of Indian cinema's most enduring icons is expected to give Sara's career a significant boost.
