Madrasa teacher arrested on charge of raping child in Mohammadpur
Md Husain Ahmed, 48, a teacher, has been arrested by police on the charge of raping a 13-year-old student in Mohammadpur of the capital.
He was detained from Baitul Fazal Madrasa on Noorjahan Road in the afternoon on Sunday (September 6).
Police said the teacher was shown arrested on the basis of the allegation and sent to court on Monday (September 7). The father of the victim child has filed a case with Mohammadpur police station as the complainant in this incident.
According to family and police sources, the child used to go to the madrasa every afternoon with other students to read the Quran. It is alleged that the teacher took the child to a separate room on various pretexts during teaching and raped the child several times. The case has alleged that such an incident last occurred with the child on September 2.
Later the matter became known to the child’s parents through another student. After that family members and locals went to the madrasa and detained the accused teacher. Getting the information a team of Mohammadpur police station went to the spot and took him into custody.
The father of the victim alleged that threats of harm were given if the matter was told to anyone. He also alleged that the child was pressured to remain silent by frightening the child.
Md Abdul Halim, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mohammadpur police station, said the father of the child has filed a case as the complainant in this incident. The accused teacher has been arrested on the basis of the allegation and sent to court. Further legal action is being taken after investigating the case.
