The tech world is buzzing with anticipation over Apple's next-generation smartphone, the iPhone 18 Pro. According to various reliable tipsters and supply chain sources, a highly anticipated foldable iPhone could steal the spotlight at Apple's annual product launch event in the fall of 2026. Alongside it, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are also expected to be unveiled.

Multiple tech reports suggest that Apple might stick to the 6.3-inch display for the iPhone 18 Pro and a 6.9-inch display for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. On the other hand, consumers might have to wait until early 2027 for the standard iPhone 18 model to hit the market.

Minor tweaks in design expected
According to various leaked reports, no major overhaul is expected in the external design of the iPhone 18 Pro series. Apple is likely to retain its signature triple-camera layout. However, tipster Digital Chat Station claims that a partially transparent design could be introduced on the Ceramic Shield around the MagSafe charging area. Apple has not yet released any official information regarding this.

Meanwhile, another well-known tipster, Ice Universe, has claimed that the thickness of the iPhone 18 Pro Max might slightly increase to around 8.8 mm, which could also marginally increase the phone's overall weight.

The biggest upgrade comes to the camera
Analysts believe that the iPhone 18 Pro series could feature the most significant camera upgrade seen in recent years. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, variable aperture technology might be introduced to the iPhone for the very first time. This feature will allow users to control the amount of light entering the lens based on their needs, reducing the risk of overexposed photos in bright light while significantly improving the depth of field and overall image quality.

Furthermore, rumors suggest that at least one Pro model might feature Samsung's advanced three-layer stacked image sensor. This upgrade is expected to enhance low-light photography, dynamic range, and noise control compared to previous models.

A smaller dynamic island
While previous rumors suggested that Apple would introduce fully under-display Face ID technology in the iPhone 18 Pro, recent updates indicate that the technology is not yet fully ready.

Instead, the Dynamic Island is expected to shrink. According to information shared by Ice Universe, the size of the Dynamic Island could be reduced by about 35% compared to the current generation, offering users more screen real estate.

Speed boost and efficiency with the A20 chip
The biggest hardware upgrade for the iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to be the new A20 chipset. It is widely anticipated to be manufactured using TSMC’s cutting-edge 2-nanometer process.

Tech analysts suggest that this new processor could deliver up to a 15% increase in performance while reducing power consumption by nearly 30%. This efficiency will not only boost battery life but also allow artificial intelligence (AI) features to run much faster.
