Malaysia has repatriated a total of 111 foreign nationals, including 49 Bangladeshis, after their sentences were completed. Their return was processed in the third week of November from the Pineapple Town Immigration Depot in Johor state.

A notice published on the Facebook page of Johor State Immigration on Monday, November 24, stated that among the repatriated foreigners, there were also 24 Indonesians, 12 Nepalis, 9 Pakistanis, 4 Cambodians, 4 Indians, 3 Chinese, and 2 each from Laos, Vietnam, and Singapore.

They were sent back to their respective countries via Kuala Lumpur International Airport-1 and 2 (KLIA-1 and KLIA-2), Senai International Airport, Sultan Iskandar Building Complex, and the Stulang Laut ferry terminal.

The cost of the tickets used for the repatriation flights and ferries was covered from the detainees’ personal savings, family support, and, where necessary, the relevant country’s embassy.

Johor State Immigration stated that such repatriation processes are regularly conducted to prevent overstaying by foreign prisoners whose sentences have ended.
