Maldives president expresses condolences over Bangladesh floods
Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu has expressed condolences over the ongoing floods and landslides in Bangladesh's south-eastern and north-eastern regions.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, July 13, the Maldivian president said, "On behalf of the government and people of the Maldives, I express our profound sympathy and sorrow to Bangladesh's Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government and the people as they face the devastating impact of the ongoing monsoon floods and landslides."
"Our condolences and prayers are with the families who have lost loved ones and all those whose livelihoods have been disrupted," he added.
He said the Maldives stands by Bangladesh during this difficult time and wishes safety, strength and swift recovery to all affected communities.
