Mamata Banerjee will not resign
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has ruled out the possibility of resigning after the defeat in the West Bengal elections. She claimed that the Trinamool Congress was defeated not by the people's verdict, but through a conspiracy.
At a press conference, Mamata said, "There is no question of resigning. We have been victims of a conspiracy." This information has come to light in a report by the Times of India on Tuesday (May 5).
Mamata strongly criticized the central government of India and the Election Commission over the election results. She said, "With the direct intervention of the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister, the entire government machinery has worked against the Trinamool."
She claimed that about 100 seats were forcibly snatched. Alleging that 90 lakh names were deleted from the voter list, she said, "32 lakh names were restored after going to court. But later seven lakh more names were added secretly, which no one knows.
Mamata Banerjee called the Election Commission of India a 'BJP's commission' and the Chief Election Commissioner the 'villain' of this election. Alleging tampering with the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), she questioned, 'How is it that the EVMs have 80-90 percent charge after voting?' She further alleged that the arrests of her party workers started two days before the elections and all IPS and IAS officers were replaced with BJP-chosen officers.
Regarding her future plans, Mamata said, 'I will now work to strengthen Mukta Vihang and the India Alliance.' She also said that opposition leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal and Akhilesh Yadav have contacted her and expressed solidarity.
Mamata said, 'I have served the public for the last 15 years, I have not taken a single paisa of salary or pension. Now I will work as a common citizen. My goal is clear - to increase the strength of the India alliance.' He also said that Akhilesh Yadav will come to meet him in Kolkata tomorrow.
