Man brings dead sister’s skeleton to grameen bank to withdraw money
A sensational incident has taken place in Keonjhar district of Odisha state, India. A brother has brought his skeleton to the bank to withdraw just Rs 19,300 from his dead sister's bank account.
According to local sources, a man named Jitu Munda walked about three kilometers to a grameen bank branch in Maliposi branch of Keonjhar district with his sister Kakra Munda's skeleton wrapped in a cloth on Monday (April 27).
It is learned that Kakra Munda died about two months ago. Jitu was the only close relative as her husband and children had died earlier. When he went to withdraw the money in her sister's bank account, the bank authorities asked her to show the inheritance certificate or necessary documents. But since he was poor and illiterate, he could not show it.
It is said that he finally took such an unusual decision due to frustration with legal complications.
The incident created a huge sensation in the area. Locals criticized the bank's behavior as inhumane and demanded a quick humane solution.
On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. In addition, the matter has been investigated and assured of a speedy resolution.
Questions have also been raised about the role of the bank authorities in this incident.
