Manchester City have made a stunning late move in the transfer window, signing Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea for £125 million — a fee that equals the British transfer record.

The deal was announced just 30 minutes before the transfer deadline, with the 25-year-old midfielder signing a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium. The fee amounts to more than Tk 2,071 crore.

Fernandez confirmed his departure from Chelsea on social media, and City officially announced the transfer less than an hour later.

The Argentina international expressed his delight at joining City, describing them as England’s most successful club in recent years and saying he could not be happier to become part of the team.

The move marks City’s second breaking of their club-record transfer fee in the same window. In July, they signed English midfielder Elliot Anderson for £116 million, setting a new club record at the time.

Fernandez’s £125 million transfer fee also matches the British record set last year when Liverpool signed Swedish striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United for the same amount.

With the Fernandez deal, City’s spending on new players during the summer window has climbed to around £450 million, underlining the club’s huge investment ahead of the new season.
