María Corina dedicates Nobel Peace Prize to Donald Trump
Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, winner of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, has dedicated her award to U.S. President Donald Trump. The Norwegian Nobel Committee presented her with the prize on Friday (October 10).
In a post on X, Machado wrote, “This recognition for the Venezuelan people’s struggle for freedom will inspire us to reach our goal. We are on the verge of victory. I dedicate this prize to the oppressed people of Venezuela and to our supporter, President Trump, whose leadership for freedom and democracy we honour.”
Following the announcement, Machado personally called Trump to express her gratitude. “She told me she accepted the award in my honor. I didn’t ask for it—but she truly deserves it,” Trump told reporters.
The White House later criticized the Nobel Committee for “prioritizing politics over peace,” adding that “President Trump will continue his efforts to secure peace, end wars, and save lives — qualities that define a true humanitarian leader.”
