Margot Robbie quietly adds husband’s surname nearly a decade after marriage

Hollywood actor and producer Margot Robbie has quietly added her husband Tom Ackerley’s surname to her legal name, nearly 10 years after their marriage.

Documents filed with the UK’s Companies House show that her name has changed from Margot Alice Robbie to Margot Alice Ackerley in the records of their joint production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, according to Page Six.

The change appears to apply to business records only. The documents do not state why the name was updated, and there has been no indication that Robbie plans to change the professional name she uses in films and public life.

Robbie and Ackerley met on the set of the 2013 film “Suite Française” and later began dating. They married in December 2016 in Byron Bay, Australia, and are set to mark their 10th wedding anniversary this December.

The couple are also long-time professional partners. Robbie, Ackerley, Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr founded LuckyChap Entertainment in 2014. The company has produced films including “I, Tonya,” “Birds of Prey,” “Barbie” and “Saltburn.”

Robbie and Ackerley welcomed their first child in October 2024.
