Captain Mitchell Marsh smashed a brisk 60 off 28 balls to power Australia to a 3-0 series sweep, as the visitors chased down a modest Bangladesh total of 109-8 in just 11 overs, with seven wickets to spare, at the Bir Shreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Australia had already wrapped up the series after winning the first two matches, and made light work of the dead rubber in Chattogram.

Earlier, stand-in captain Towhid Hridoy struck an unbeaten 61 off 51 balls to spare Bangladesh's blushes after the hosts were left reeling early.

Chasing a small target, Australia did not waste any time. Openers Josh Inglis and Marsh went after the Bangladesh quicks from the very first ball, setting the tone for a rapid chase.

Left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed provided the first breakthrough amid the early carnage, bowling three economical overs before trapping Inglis at the mid-wicket boundary. Inglis had made 17 and put on a 54-run opening stand with his captain.

Marsh continued the assault, reaching his 14th T20I fifty off just 23 balls, before Shoriful Islam finally dismissed him for 60, an innings studded with seven fours and four sixes.

Cooper Connolly fell soon after, holing out off Rishad Hossain for 15 off 13 balls.

Matt Renshaw and Tim David then finished off the chase inside 11 overs. Renshaw remained unbeaten on six, while David struck 12 off three balls, including two sixes, to seal the win.

For Bangladesh, Nasum, Shoriful and Rishad picked up one wicket apiece.

Earlier in the match, playing for pride after Australia had already sealed the series, Bangladesh needed a solid batting effort to set up a competitive total.

Instead, only Hridoy and Rishad Hossain reached double figures, with the rest of the order coming and going cheaply.

Opener Tanzid Hasan was the unlucky one, run out at the bowler's end in the second over after Saif Hassan's straight drive deflected off pacer Spencer Johnson onto the stumps. Tanzid had made five off two balls.

Saif followed soon after, holing out attempting to clear mid-off, for nine off one ball.

Parvez Hossain Emon tried to break the shackles but fell attempting to clear mid-on, scoring one off 13 balls and leaving Bangladesh reeling at 11-3.

Hridoy then set about rebuilding, stitching together partnerships with Nurul Hasan, Rishad Hossain and Shoriful Islam, before finishing unbeaten alongside the tail. None of those stands, however, went beyond 30 runs — a sign of how consistently Bangladesh continued to lose wickets at the other end.

Hridoy remained not out on 61 off 51 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes, to register his seventh T20I half-century.

For Australia, Spencer Johnson, Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa each picked up two wickets.
