Mbappé joins Ronaldo’s rare record
Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé has become only the second player after Cristiano Ronaldo to score 53 or more goals in a single calendar year for the club.
The French captain achieved the milestone by netting in Sunday’s 1-1 La Liga draw against Girona.
Displaying remarkable consistency and form, Mbappé continues to surpass Ronaldo’s records, completing his first full calendar year at Real Madrid with this feat—Ronaldo had done it five times in different seasons.
Mbappé also scored four goals in a UEFA Champions League match on November 27 against Olympiacos, leading Real to a 4-3 victory. He broke Ronaldo’s fastest hat-trick record as well, completing a treble in just seven minutes compared to Ronaldo’s 11-minute mark against Malmö in the 2015/16 season.
Earlier in the season, Mbappé cited Ronaldo as his role model, praising his guidance while expressing his desire to chart his own path in football.
