Mechanics co-founder, guitarist Syed Imran dies of cancer
Syed Imran Ahmed, co-founder and former guitarist of the heavy metal band 'Mechanics', has died. He passed away on Sunday morning after battling cancer for about a year and a half.
Imran's death was confirmed by Mechanics vocalist Aftabuzzaman Tridib. In a post on social media, he wrote, "Syed Imran Ahmed has left us forever. He had been fighting cancer for the past one and a half years. I have lost a brother. Everyone please pray for him."
Many others in the band music scene have also expressed grief over Imran's death.
Mechanics debuted in 2005. The band has played an important role in the practice of heavy metal music in the country. Imran formed the band along with Aftabuzzaman Tridib. However, he left the band in 2008. Due to professional reasons, he did not later join any other band.
Despite leaving the band, Imran maintained a friendly relationship with the members of Mechanics. After he was diagnosed with cancer, Mechanics also organised a concert to raise funds for his treatment.
At that concert, held on July 25, eight bands including Mechanics and Highway performed. Imran died just weeks after that fundraising concert for his treatment.
