Meghna Alam, the candidate nominated by the Gono Odhikar Parishad in Dhaka-8 constituency, has filed a general diary (GD) with the police station alleging lack of personal security. She filed the GD at Ramna Police Station on Wednesday (February 11), said Ramna Police Station OC Mohammad Rahat Khan.

In the GD, Meghna Alam mentioned that her election campaign was supposed to start from January 22 as per the Election Commission's instructions. But she could not campaign normally due to various threats and street harassment of her female supporters.

Meghna Alam said that as per the government's promise, the Home Ministry was supposed to provide her with personal security, including gunmen. She informed the Home Ministry and Home Affairs Adviser about this and also informed the Special Branch on their instructions. However, she alleged that no security measures have been taken so far despite receiving assurances.

In the GD, she further expressed his concern that there may be security risks for him while visiting various centers in Dhaka-8 constituency on polling day. She claimed that not providing security in the context of the current election environment and political tension is tantamount to negligence and discrimination on the part of the concerned authorities.
