Memorandum submitted at Bangladesh mission in Kolkata demanding security of minorities, release of Chinmoy Krishna

Two organizations of India have demanded the release of Swami Chinmoy Krishna Das and ensuring the security of the Hindu community in Bangladesh from the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata.

The workers-supporters of Vivekananda Mission Seva Pratisthan and National Citizen Party observed this programme in the afternoon on Saturday (October 3).

The procession with the participation of about 100 persons started from Sealdah railway station and when it reached the area near the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission the police stopped it. Later five representatives from among the protesters were taken to the chancery.

There a memorandum was given from the side of the two organizations to the Head of Chancery and Second Secretary of the Bangladesh mission. In the memorandum the demand of completing the judicial process quickly on the matter of Swami Chinmoy Krishna Das and releasing him was made.

Besides an appeal was made to the government for ensuring the security of the Hindu community in Bangladesh. The protesters demanded ensuring the security of the ministers and the members of the Hindu community during Durga Puja and also in the subsequent period.

While giving the memorandum the representatives of the two organizations thanked Prime Minister of Bangladesh Tarique Rahman for allocating additional budget on the occasion of Durga Puja and increasing the Puja holiday up to five days. At the same time they wished good health of the Prime Minister.

It was informed from the side of the organizers that the programme was organized by taking prior permission and the necessary approvals. Security arrangements were also made by coordinating with the local authorities from the side of the Bangladesh mission centring the programme.

Later the procession and protest programme ended without any unpleasant incident. The expectation of taking quick steps on the matter of the security of the minority community in Bangladesh and Swami Chinmoy Krishna Das has been expressed in the memorandum.
