Meta rolls out comment editing feature on Instagram
Meta has introduced a new feature on Instagram that allows users to edit their comments after posting, enhancing flexibility and user control on the platform.
With the update, users can modify their comments within 15 minutes of posting. During this window, they can make multiple edits if needed.
According to tech site Engadget, the feature is one of the latest additions to Instagram’s evolving interface and works similarly to the message edit option introduced in 2024.
How it works
Users can only edit their own comments. To use the feature, they need to:
* Tap the “Edit” option under their comment
* Make changes in the text box that appears
* Confirm the update by tapping the blue check mark
Once saved, the edited comment replaces the original version.
Why it matters
Instagram supports commenting across posts, reels, and stories. The new feature is expected to help users correct typos, fix errors, or update opinions without deleting and reposting comments.
Recent updates
Earlier in March, Meta reportedly said it is removing end-to-end encryption from Instagram direct messages. The company is also testing a subscription-based feature called “Instagram Plus,” which may offer additional tools and story-related benefits.
Overall, Instagram continues to introduce new features aimed at improving user experience, with comment editing being the latest addition.
