Meta's Muse overtakes ChatGPT within 12 days of launch
Within just 12 days of its public launch, the artificial intelligence-based app 'Muse' has generated a huge response among users. According to data from market research firm Apptopia, the iOS version of Meta's app was downloaded nearly 1.8 million times in the United States and Canada during this period. At the same time, the ChatGPT iOS app was downloaded nearly 1.3 million times in these two countries.
However, there is a difference in geographical scope between the two apps. Muse is still only available for use in the United States and Canada. On the other hand, ChatGPT's mobile app has been available in a comparatively much larger number of countries from the beginning. For this reason, to keep the comparison close, Apptopia considered only the iOS download figures for the United States and Canada.
According to Apptopia, Muse was installed nearly 2.8 million times worldwide in the first 12 days. Due to the rapid downloads, it has also topped the list of free apps on the US App Store. Not only in attracting new users, the app also received a significant response early on in terms of daily usage.
According to the research firm's data, Muse's daily active users were around 642,000 in the first 12 days of its market launch. During the same period, ChatGPT's daily active users were around 231,000. Considering only the iOS version, Muse's daily active user figure was estimated at around 359,000, which was higher than ChatGPT's total daily active user figure during that period.
It is believed that Meta's large social media platforms may have played a role behind Muse's rapid expansion. The app allows connection with various Meta services, including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. As a result, an opportunity has been created to quickly introduce the new AI app to a huge number of people who were already using these platforms.
Apptopia's data shows that more than 95 percent of Muse's early users are Facebook users. Additionally, nearly 63 percent of users also use Instagram. As a result, Meta's existing social media-based user network is believed to have played an important role in increasing the initial acceptance of the new AI app.
