Bangladeshi model and actress Tangia Zaman Methila is representing the country at the Miss Universe pageant, showcasing the nation’s heritage through a stunning Jamdani saree, reflecting the regal tradition and intricate craftsmanship of Bangladesh’s iconic textile.

“My national costume on the Miss Universe stage is adorned with a royal Jamdani saree, a living symbol of Bangladesh’s heritage,” Methila shared on social media.

Handwoven by skilled artisans along the banks of Narayanganj’s Shitalakshya River, the saree features premium cotton threads and golden zari embroidery.

Designer Afrina Sadia Syeda incorporated the graceful Shapla motif—Bangladesh’s national flower—while Methila’s jewelry, designed by Laura Khan of 6 Yards Store, complements the saree’s elegant detailing.

The creation process took over 120 days, continuing centuries-old weaving traditions dating back to the Mughal and Nawabi eras.

Recognised by UNESCO in 2013 as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity, Jamdani stands as a symbol of cultural pride and royal elegance—brought to life on the global stage by Methila.
