Mexico cruise to 2-0 lead over Ecuador
Mexico have taken firm control of their Round of 32 match against Ecuador, leading 2-0 at the Estadio Azteca.
After Quiñones opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, Raúl Jiménez doubled the advantage in the 30th minute, sending the Mexican fans into raptures inside the iconic stadium.
The match, which started nearly an hour late due to severe thunderstorms and heavy rain, has seen Mexico dominate proceedings so far. Ecuador are struggling to contain the hosts’ attacking threat as they fight to stay alive in the tournament.
With the first half still underway, Mexico are well on their way to securing a place in the Round of 16, while Ecuador need a quick response to keep their World Cup dreams alive.
