Milon connects with constituents after victory, showered with supporters' love
Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, newly elected member of parliament from the Rajshahi-3 (Paba-Mohanpur) constituency on the BNP's sheaf of paddy symbol, conducted mass outreach in the area from Friday morning. During this time, ordinary people and party leaders and activists showered him with floral greetings.
As he joined motorcycle processions in various areas, supporters standing on both sides of the roads welcomed him with flowers. A festive atmosphere prevailed throughout the area.
Offering gratitude to Almighty Allah, Milon said the sheaf of paddy has achieved a landslide victory across the country. He expressed thankfulness to the Lord of the Worlds for this. He further said the real organisers of this election were the common people of the country; therefore, this historic victory is essentially the people's victory.
He dedicated this victory to martyr president Ziaur Rahman and 'Mother of Democracy' Begum Khaleda Zia. He also noted that this victory is not a personal achievement, but a great opportunity and grave responsibility to work for the welfare of the people.
He expressed his resolve to work devotedly for the welfare of the country and its people, following the ideals of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. He also pledged to perform his duties with justice and sincerity for the development of neglected and backward communities and for protecting their rights.
As part of the day's programme, he performed Jumu'ah prayers at Nawhata Model Mosque and attended a funeral prayer. Later, he visited the graves of his parents. Local leaders and activists were present with him on the occasion.
