Miraz makes instant impact on CPL debut with 3 wickets
Bangladesh all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz made a stunning Caribbean Premier League debut on Wednesday (September 10), taking three wickets for just 11 runs as Guyana Amazon Warriors beat St Lucia Kings by four wickets in Providence.
Playing his first CPL match after joining Guyana as Mohammad Nabi’s replacement, Miraz struck in his first over by removing John Campbell for 12. He returned later to dismiss Kamil Pooran and Charith Asalanka as the Kings’ innings collapsed.
Miraz finished with 3-11 from 3.4 overs, combining with veteran leg-spinner Imran Tahir to dismantle St Lucia’s batting. Tahir claimed 5-17 as the Kings were bowled out for 119.
Guyana then chased down the target in 18.3 overs, reaching 122 for six to secure a four-wicket victory. The result extended the Warriors’ strong campaign as they continued their push at the top of the CPL standings.
Miraz had joined the Warriors midway through the tournament as a replacement for Nabi, who left the CPL to join Afghanistan for their upcoming T20I series against India. He had previously been signed by Trinbago Knight Riders in 2017 but did not play a match.
