Miraz named new ODI captain of Bangladesh
Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been appointed as the new captain of the Bangladesh One Day International (ODI) cricket team. He will begin his captaincy with the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka.
The decision was made during a virtual meeting of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday (June 12). However, BCB has not officially announced it yet. Miraz has previously served as the acting captain of the ODI team.
This decision marks a return to a three-captain system for Bangladesh cricket. Najmul Hossain Shanto continues as the Test captain, and Litton Das leads the T20 side. While there was speculation that Shanto might also take over the ODI captaincy, the BCB has instead opted for a new face to lead the format.
