Bangladesh are set to welcome back all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz for the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo, after he missed the first match in Galle due to a bout of viral fever.

Team management confirmed that Miraz has recovered and rejoined the squad ahead of the crucial match. He had been sidelined during the opening Test of the ICC World Test Championship series, where Bangladesh struggled without his presence.

Miraz resumed light training on Thursday (June 19) and practiced separately ahead of the second Test. Team manager Nafis Iqbal confirmed his improved condition, saying, “Miraz is doing very well now. He came to the ground today and spent time with the team.”

In Miraz's absence, opener Anamul Haque Bijoy was included in the playing XI for the Galle Test. However, he may make way in the Colombo Test if the team opts for a more balanced lineup. Off-spinner Nayeem Hasan is also being considered for selection alongside Miraz, depending on pitch conditions.

The second Test in Colombo will be crucial for Bangladesh as they look to bounce back and level the series, having lost the opening match.
