Mirpur, Chattogram and Sylhet in BCB's consideration as Asia Cup venues
The Asia Cup will be played in the ODI format next year. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has almost finalised the dates for the tournament, although an official announcement is yet to be made. The tournament is likely to be held in June-July next year, with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as the hosts.
The ACC has already sought detailed information from the BCB regarding the venues. The BCB is considering the stadiums in Mirpur, Sylhet and Chattogram as potential venues. BCB Security Committee Chairman Saeed Ibrahim Ahmed shared this information while speaking to the media on Tuesday.
"We are considering Mirpur, Chattogram and Sylhet—our regular international venues," he said. "However, I reiterate that nothing has been finalised yet. But inshallah, if the Asia Cup is held in Bangladesh next year, you will see everything."
Ibrahim said the venues would be finalised within a few days. "We have been contacted, and they want more details from us regarding the three proposed venues. We hope to finalise things within the next few days."
On the Asia Cup returning to Bangladesh after 11 years, the BCB director said, "We are optimistic that after so many years, the Asia Cup is coming back to Bangladesh, and we want to present a good tournament to the spectators and cricket lovers."
"We are trying our best from our side, and you can perhaps understand how positive we are through our activities. We are trying; now it depends on what happens next," he added.
