Mirza Fakhrul’s nomination for Thakurgaon-1 declared valid

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s nomination for the Thakurgaon-1 (Sadar) constituency has been declared valid for the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.

The decision was made on Saturday morning (January 3) after scrutiny of nomination papers at the district returning officer’s office.

Returning Officer Ishrat Farzana confirmed that no irregularities were found in Mirza Fakhrul’s submitted documents.

Nomination papers of Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Delawar Hossain and Islami Andolon nominee Khademul Islam for the same constituency were also found valid following verification.

According to the revised election schedule, the deadline for submitting nomination papers was December 29, while scrutiny is being conducted from December 30 to January 4. Appeals against returning officers’ decisions may be filed between January 5 and 9 and will be disposed of from January 10 to 18. The last date for withdrawal of candidacy is January 20.

The final list of candidates and symbol allocation will be published on January 21. Election campaigning will begin on January 22, with polling scheduled for February 12, to be held from 7:30am.
