Mirza Fakhrul's younger brother collects nomination form for Thakurgaon-1
District BNP President Mirza Faisal Amin has collected a nomination form as a BNP nomination aspirant for the by-election to the vacant Thakurgaon-1 (Sadar) constituency. He is the younger brother of former BNP Secretary General and former President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Thakurgaon District BNP General Secretary Paigam Ali collected the nomination form on behalf of Mirza Faisal Amin from the BNP central office in Nayapaltan in the capital at noon on Tuesday, September 15. The information was confirmed by party sources.
Preparations for the by-election began after the Thakurgaon-1 seat fell vacant. It is learned that several party leaders are interested in becoming BNP's candidate for the seat. The opportunity to collect party nomination forms remained open until 5pm on Tuesday. The deadline for submitting nomination forms was subsequently set for Wednesday.
Mirza Faisal Amin has long been active in organisational activities as district BNP president. Alongside maintaining regular contact with local party leaders and activists, he has been leading various BNP programmes at the district level. He has now collected the form seeking the party nomination to contest the vacant national parliament seat.
After collecting the nomination form on behalf of Mirza Faisal Amin, District BNP General Secretary Paigam Ali expressed optimism about his victory. However, who will ultimately be BNP's candidate for this seat will be finalised only after the party's decision.
Meanwhile, political activity is increasing in the Thakurgaon-1 constituency centring the by-election. Alongside BNP nomination aspirants, potential candidates from other political parties are also making preparations. As a result, a fresh political stir has been created in local politics centring the by-election to the vacant seat.
