Model Monika Kabir breaks down in tears after ‘harassment’ incident on street, decides to leave country

Russian-born Bangladeshi model Monika Kabir has come under heavy criticism after a video showing her publicly assaulting a pedestrian on Gulshan Avenue in the capital went viral on social media. Following the widespread backlash, Monika broke down in tears amid strong criticism from netizens.

In an interview, Monika said, “I never tried to hurt anyone. What is shown in the video happened beyond my control.”

Monika, who has been under pressure for a long time regarding her work as a model and her personal life, said she is struggling to cope with the situation.

Following the incident, Monika Kabir has decided to leave the country. She said she will stay abroad for some time to ensure her safety and will return once the situation calms down.

After what appeared to be contact with her elbow or body, Monika became agitated, pushed the pedestrian and began hitting him with her bag. At the end of the video, she threw a ‘flying kiss’ toward the person recording the video, which intensified the controversy.

Social media users have widely criticized the incident. However, some users claim that the pedestrian may have made an inappropriate gesture toward Monika, although no evidence of such a claim has been found.
