Modi joins Trump’s Truth Social
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened an account on Truth Social, the US social media platform whose parent is majority owned by US President Donald Trump.
Modi’s first post was a picture of him and Trump at the Howdy, Modi! rally at Houston, Texas in September 2019.
Saying he was “[d]elighted” to be on the platform, Modi said: “Looking forward to interacting with all the passionate voices here and engaging in meaningful conversations in the times to come.”
Truth Social was launched by Donald Trump after he was banned on Twitter, now named X, for his role in the January 2021 insurrection where protesters stormed the Capitol to object to the formal vote counting to certify former president Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election.
